How Publishing with Biblio Works

Six steps, and you can see all of them

Publishing used to mean sending a manuscript into a silence that lasted weeks. Biblio Nova replaced the waiting with a system. Here is the whole of it.

1. See your price and start your book.
Answer a few questions about your book — roughly how many pages, what size, black and white or color — and your price appears on the screen. Nothing there is binding, and anything you are unsure of you can leave alone; we will recommend it. When you are ready, you start the book right there. No card, nothing owed.

2. Send us your manuscript.
Upload it from your own author page, in whatever format you have. Word is best. We confirm we have it and tell you what happens next.

3. We make the book.
We typeset the interior in a real book design, lay out your images where you put them, and design a cover from your ideas and artwork — or from scratch if you have none. Your ISBNs and barcode are assigned and the title is registered.

4. You approve a printed proof.
We print your book and mail it to you. Read it as a book. Mark anything you want changed — on the pages themselves, or in a list, whichever is easier for you. We make the corrections and send another proof when one is needed. Nothing is published until you say so.

5. We publish and distribute.
Your book goes out to Ingram’s global network, to Amazon, to the Biblio Bookstore, and — as eBook editions built from the same manuscript — to Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo and Barnes & Noble. Metadata, categories, pricing and the retail listings are all handled here.

6. Your books arrive.
Your first printing is produced on our own presses in Columbus, bound, boxed and shipped to you. When you need more, you order them from us directly.

You can watch the whole thing

Every book has its own page. You can see what stage yours is at, what has been done, what we are waiting on, and what comes next. You never have to email someone to ask where your book is.

How long does it take?

Honestly: the machine is no longer the slow part. What used to be a four-to-six week wait before anyone even looked at your formatting is now measured in days. The real variable is the proof round — a book waits on the author who is reading it, and it should. Read it carefully. That is what the proof is for.
