Everything included, and nothing held back
These are not add-ons and they are not tiers. Every book Biblio publishes gets all of it, and the cost is inside the first printing you order. There is no publishing fee.
Interior formatting
We typeset your manuscript into a real book — page size, typeface, margins, running heads, page numbers, chapter openings, table of contents, front and back matter. Your images sit where you put them. You choose the page style; if you would rather not, we will recommend the one most books like yours use.
Cover design
We design your cover: front, spine and back, sized to your book’s exact page count. Send us artwork, a photograph or an idea and we will build on it. Send us nothing and we will design one for you. The back cover carries your book description and your author bio, so have a couple of paragraphs ready that answer the question a reader asks holding your book: why should I read this?
ISBNs, barcode and registration
Your book is assigned its ISBNs — print and eBook — and a scannable barcode, and the title is registered so it appears in the catalogues booksellers and libraries actually search.
Printed proofs
We print your book and mail it to you before anything is published. You read it as a book, mark what you want changed, and we correct it. Another proof follows when one is needed. Nothing goes out until you approve it.
eBook editions
Built from the same manuscript, so the text can never drift apart from the printed book. Your eBook is prepared for Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo and Barnes & Noble.
Distribution
Your book is set up with Ingram’s global network — tens of thousands of bookstores, online retailers and libraries can order it — and listed on Amazon, in the eBook stores, and in the Biblio Bookstore. More about distribution.
Printing and fulfilment
Your books are printed and bound on our own presses in Columbus, Ohio, and shipped to you. When a bookstore, a library or a reader orders a copy, we print and fulfil that too. There is no minimum order, ever, and no warehouse full of your books to pay for.
Royalties
You take part in setting your book’s retail price and the royalty inside it. Royalties are paid quarterly. As the author you also buy your own copies at author’s cost, which is what makes selling at a signing, a talk or a fair worth doing.
Corrections after publication
Because we print as books are ordered, a book is never frozen. Small corrections after publication are made at no charge, and larger changes for a reasonable one. There is no print run sitting in a warehouse with the mistake in it.
What is not included
Editing and marketing. We are honest about both. If your manuscript needs an editor we will tell you so plainly and put you in touch with one — we do not quietly publish a book that is not ready. And while we make your book available everywhere a reader might look for it, selling it is work that belongs to you; a publisher who promises otherwise is usually selling you something.
